J&L Energy was founded in 2016 with a mission to responsibly develop clean Appalachian natural gas while creating lasting value for landowners, local communities, and the region we call home.

Based in West Virginia, J&L is focused on dry gas development in the Marcellus Fairway of the Appalachian Basin. Our approach is built on careful planning, disciplined due diligence, and a respect for the land and people involved in each project. Before development begins, J&L works to reduce risk by securing contiguous lease positions, confirming access to takeaway infrastructure, establishing dependable water sources, and studying nearby horizontal well performance.

We believe responsible energy development starts long before a well is drilled. By combining hands-on field experience, technical analysis, and a practical understanding of surrounding production trends, J&L designs projects intended to maximize resource recovery while keeping operations efficient and low impact.

As a small, focused operator, J&L is able to move with discipline, accountability, and care. Our goal is to develop natural gas projects that support long-term income for land & mineral owners, provide opportunities for local workers and service companies, and contribute to the strength and stability of rural communities.

We are proud of Appalachian shale gas and the hardworking men and women who make responsible energy production possible. Natural gas from this region has helped improve lives, strengthen America’s energy security, and support communities here at home and around the world.

“In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.”
